Wheel-Throwing Classes

Weekly Classes
-
Our monthly ceramics classes are suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced makers.
-
We begin by introducing the basic hand-building techniques and continue to apply them in more advanced projects.
-
Wheel-throwing is also available during class for students who are interested in learning this form of shaping clay.
-
All our students work on projects of their choice while learning more advanced techniques of hand-building, glazing and firing.
-
We have five different types of stoneware clay and dozens of pre-mixed glazes to choose from and experiment with.
-
All materials, tools, clay, glazes and firings are included in your monthly fee.
-
We have morning and afternoon groups available.
-
You can sign up at any time during the academic year.
Studio Membership
-
For practitioners who have a basic knowledge of working with clay and need a studio to work in.
-
Membership includes up to 10 hours a week in the studio, use of equipment, tools, and glazes, up to 12 kilograms per month of standard temperature firing, and your own storage shelf (h40cm x w35 x d40cm). The only additional thing you have to buy is clay, which we sell on-site.
-
We have a range of tools, clays, and dozens of ready-mixed glazes to choose from. All glazes have test tiles so you can see what they will look like on different clay bodies.
-
Work at a pace that suits you. Come whenever works best for you. Book your slot online.
-
Although this is not a class, there's always a mentor on site to advise members on how to use the equipment.
Wheel-Throwing Classes
-
Semi-private, 2-hour classes in groups of up to two people so you can expect plenty of individual attention.
-
This class covers wheel throwing techniques only and it's suitable for both students that already have a basic knowledge of throwing and total beginners.
-
Fast track learning on the pottery wheel.
-
You will go through all stages of wheel throwing starting with centering, making an opening, shaping, trimming and then final touches and glazing.
-
Learn different hand placements and pulling techniques and discover the ones that work best for you.
